About Me:
Educational Psychologist & Registered Counsellor (HPCSA)
BPsych, PGCE (UCT), MEdPsych (US)
PS 0159778/PRC0032298

Hi there,
My journey in this field began in 2014 when I graduated with a Bachelor of Psychology (BPsych) degree, which allowed me to register with the HPCSA as a registered counsellor. My passion for children and adolescents led me to obtain a post-graduate certificate in education (PGCE). I then continued my educational journey by completing a Master's in Educational Psychology (MEdPsych) at Stellenbosch University to further hone my skills in mental health, psychology, and education. This allowed me to register as an Educational Psychologist after completing an internship.
With ten years of experience in various settings (NPO's, a mainstream school, a special needs' school, an international school and in a private practice), I am dedicated to helping individuals achieve their full potential.
I have a special interest in working with individuals with neurodiversity, particularly autism. Consequently, in 2023, I co-authored and published an article in the Journal of Education on the inclusion of learners with autism titled: "Including learners with Autism Spectrum Disorder: Voices of mainstream teachers."
I have a special interest in working with children, adolescents and young adults who may be struggling with:
-
Autism spectrum disorder/ neurodiversity
-
Anxiety
-
Self-concept and self-esteem
-
Low mood
-
Emotional regulation
-
Grief or trauma
-
Social skills
-
Bullying
I provide play therapy, individual therapy, organisational and study skills, psychoeducational assessments, subject-choice assessments and career assessments.
Play therapy is a form of therapy that helps children express themselves through play. It is a non-invasive and effective way to help children work through emotional and behavioural difficullties. Individual therapy, on the other hand, is a one-on-one psychotherapy session between a psychologist and a client, where clients can explore their thoughts and feelings in a confidential setting. The aim of psychotherapy is to identify and address underlying difficulties which are contributing to an individual's difficulties.
As a psychologist, I also conduct psychoeducational assessments, which help identify an individual's strengths and weaknesses in academic areas. Additionally, I offer organisational skills and study skills. Organisational and study skills are essential for success in any academic or professional pursuit, which is why I offer resources and support to help individual's develop these skills. Moreover, career and subject choice assessments can provide valuable insights and guidance as you navigate your educational and career paths.
